Temporary protective canopy to be removed over Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station entrance at 7th & H Street


Escalator entrance to be closed this weekend

This weekend, the Tompkins Construction Company will remove scaffolding and a temporary protective canopy over the Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station entrance at 7th and H St., N.W. (the entrance near the Chinatown Archway). As a result of this project, Metro, working in close coordination with the District of Columbia, will close the 7th and H St., N.W., escalator entrance on Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14. The entrance will re-open on Monday, March 15, at 5:30 a.m. Customers wishing to enter and exit the Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station this weekend may continue to use station entrances at 7th and F St. N.W., (MCI Center) and 9th and G St., N.W. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers," said Jim Gallagher, Metro Deputy General Manager. "This safety sensitive work will occur this weekend so as to minimize any customer inconvenience. We would like to thank our customers who utilize this station entrance for their patience while this construction work is completed." To alert customers about this project, Metro will have appropriate signage located at the station entrance.
