WHAT: Next week, Metro has planned a series of emergency preparedness events to be held throughout the Metrorail system at a different station. The goal of these events is to have an open dialogue with Metro customers. With the recent events of Madrid, Spain, on the minds of many people, Metro personnel from the departments of Safety and Risk Protection, Metro Transit Police, and Communications will speak to customers on issues of safety; answer questions; address concerns; and encourage them to partner with Metro in its ongoing mission to create a safe transit environment.

Metrorail customers will also be able to:

" Learn about Metro’s various safety/security features and how to use them - such as emergency exits, intercoms and fire extinguishers.

" Pick up safety material including the Together We Prepare, Metrorail Safety and Metrobus Safety brochures.

" Learn about their role in making the system safer (watching for suspicious activity and/or packages, reporting emergencies, etc.)
