Metro to conduct routine bridge structure inspection over Potomac River this weekend

Customers traveling on the Yellow Line this weekend are advised to allow for more time for their trips due to a routine bridge structure inspection Metro will perform on the Potomac River bridge between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon. This will occur from sunrise to sunset on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and May 23, 2004. Metro expects that delays could add five to 10 minutes to trips along this segment of the Yellow Line due to trains sharing one track in this area while the inspection occurs. Single-tracking occurs when trains traveling in opposite directions alternate use of one set of tracks. One train must pass through the area before the next one can use the same track, which causes some minor delays. For more information on traveling by Metrorail or Metrobus, customers may call (202) 637-7000, TTY at (202) 638-3780, or log onto the Metro Web site at www.metroopensdoors.com
