Metrobus service changes in the District of Columbiabegin the week of June 27
Schedule adjustments designed to improve service
Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on five lines in the District of Columbia starting the week of June 27. These changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on others, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.Mount Pleasant Line, Route 42Weekday, Saturday and Sunday running times will be changed to reflect actual traffic conditions along the route.Bladensburg Road - Anacostia Line, Route B2Weekday, Saturday and Sunday running times will be changed to reflect actual traffic conditions along the bus route. The first northbound trip on weekdays and Saturdays will be extended to begin at Anacostia Metrorail station. The last two northbound Sunday night trips will be extended to end at Mount Rainier.Sibley Hospital - Stadium-Armory Line, Routes D1, D3 and D6Weekday running times will be changed to reflect actual traffic conditions along the route. Afternoon peak period westbound D1 trips will be changed to begin at Ivy City instead of at Union Station and will follow the D3 route from Ivy City to the intersection of North Capitol Street and Massachusetts Avenue where the existing D1 route will be followed to Glover Park. Between 7 and 9 a.m.,the frequency of eastbound D6 trips leaving Sibley Hospital will be improved from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes. These additional route D6 trips will replace underutilized short trips that start at Q Street and MacArthur Boulevard. The frequency of D1 and D3 afternoon peak period service will be adjusted to approximately every 30 minutes due to low ridership.MacArthur Boulevard - Georgetown Line, Route D5Between 7:10 and 8:10 a.m., the frequency of service will be improved from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes to coordinate schedules with Route D6 along MacArthur Boulevard. The westbound trip scheduled to leave Farragut Square at 4:29 p.m. will be changed to leave at 4:24 p.m.Massachusetts Avenue Line, Routes N2, N3, N4 and N6Weekday running times will be changed to reflect actual traffic conditions along the route. Between 5 and 6 p.m., the frequency of westbound N2 and N4 service leaving Farragut Square will be changed from every seven to eight minutes to every nine minutes. Between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., the frequency of eastbound N2 and N4 service leaving Friendship Heights will be changed from every nine minutes to every 12 minutes due to low ridership.
