Metro announces late night track work to support new York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet U Metrorail station

Trains to share the same track on the Red Line between Judiciary Square and Union Station

In preparation for the opening of the new, New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet U Metrorail station, Metro will perform track circuit and maintenance work this week near the station. During this work period, customers’ trips may take longer than usual on the Red Line because trains will share one track.

As a result of this maintenance work, from Monday, June 7, to Thursday, June 10, Red Line trains will share one track between Judiciary Square and Union Station from 9:30 p.m. to closing (midnight). Thus, waiting time between trains may be slightly longer than usual during this time. Customers may experience an additional wait of five to ten minutes and, therefore, should allow more time for their trip because of this work.

To alert customers about this work, station announcements will be made in the Metrorail system.

For more information on traveling by Metrorail or Metrobus, customers may call (202) 637-7000 or TDD (202) 638-3780, or visit Metro’s web site at www.metroopensdoors.com.
