Did you know that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) provides direct bus service to the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) at an affordable price" The B30 Greenbelt-BWI Airport Express line provides this service from the Greenbelt Metrorail Station on the Green Line to the Baltimore-Washington International Airport and to the BWI Business District Light Rail Station. The B30 departs the Greenbelt Metrorail station each weekday between 6:10 a.m., and 10 p.m. Returning from BWI, the B30 departs between 7 a.m., and 10:50 p.m. On the weekends, bus service from these locations is available from 8:45 a.m. to 10:50 p.m. Effective June 28, the one-way price for this affordable service is only $3, excluding Metrorail fare and parking fees at the Greenbelt Metrorail station. As a reminder to all customers, parking is free at all Metro operated parking lots on weekends and federal holidays. In comparing other modes of public transportation to BWI, Metro’s bus service is an affordable price alternative. Metrobus accommodations include comfortable coach seating for up to 33 people with a special storage area for luggage. At BWI, the B30 bus stop is located at the Pier E International Terminal, lower level section (See the price alternatives on the next page for a comparison). "The Metrobus B30 line provides safe, quality, reliable service at a very affordable price," said Metro Board Chairman Robert J. Smith. "We encourage and remind anyone that has to travel to BWI to relax and utilize the B30 with direct service to the airport." "This quick, convenient service runs nonstop to BWI’s front door," said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration. "The BWI Express is the direct link from Washington’s Metro to BWI Airport. And with only a 30 minute ride, this transit option saves both time and money for customers coming from anywhere on the Metrorail system." Metro initiated the B30 in 2001. An average of 591 customers use this service daily. The B30 is a reimbursable project to the State of Maryland. The service costs $1.1 million to operate on a yearly basis.
