Metro announces track work scheduled for this weekend

Trains to share the same track on the Red Line

This weekend, Metro will perform preventative maintenance track work on the Red Line. During this work period, customers’ trips may take longer than usual because trains will share one track at different locations throughout the weekend. The following track work is scheduled for this weekend: Saturday, July 10, and Sunday, July 11, from opening (7 a.m.) to 6 p.m. Red Line - At certain times throughout this weekend, Metro will operate a rolling single track between these specific segments: Silver Spring to Takoma; Takoma to Fort Totten; and Fort Totten to Rhode Island Avenue. Thus, waiting time between trains may be slightly longer than usual during this time. Customers may experience an additional wait of five to 10 minutes and, therefore, should allow more time for their trip because of this work. To alert customers about this work, regular train announcements will be made throughout the Metrorail system. For more information on traveling by Metrorail or Metrobus, customers may call (202) 637-7000 or TDD (202) 638-3780, or visit Metro’s web site at www.metroopensdoors.com.
