Metro announces the start of construction for a new parking Structure at the White Flint Metrorail station

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) has started construction on a new six-level parking structure near the White Flint Metrorail station on the Red Line in Montgomery County, MD. The new parking structure should be completed by summer 2005. The new six-level parking structure will have 1,272 parking spaces. Once the area is closed for construction, customers will no longer be able to walk through the Kiss & Ride area from the parking lot into the station. There will be a new 500-foot pathway around the construction fence to ensure station access. The new $13.7 million parking structure is part of a larger joint development project and will not have a Kiss & Ride area. The remaining service lot location has been sold and will be included for further development. The station serves approximately 7,225 customers per weekday. Metro apologizes for any inconvenience.
