New brochure for people with disabilities highlightsMetro’s accessibility features

A new brochure, Tips for Riding Metro for People with Disabilities, that highlights the accessibility features of the Metro system, provides information on reduced fares for people with disabilities, lists helpful phone numbers and answers frequently asked questions is now available.

The free brochure provides comprehensive information about the accessibility features of Metrorail and Metrobus, from low floor buses and priority seating to bumpy tiles in rail stations that signal the platform’s edge and TTY-equipped telephone locations. It also includes photographs that illustrate these features.

Important information for customers with disabilities is included. The brochure lists the locations of street level elevators at Metrorail stations and helpful contact information, including the phone numbers for customer information, elevator status and service disruptions, reduced fares, lift-equipped bus service and Office of ADA Programs.

A list of frequently asked questions details how customers can qualify for reduced fares, how to get a Metro ID card for reduced fares and how to buy a specially encoded SmarTrip card for discount fares.

Customers can pick up a free copy of Tips for Riding Metro for People with Disabilities at all Metro Sales Offices and rail stations, or can request a copy from Metro’s Office of ADA Programs at 202-962-1100.
