Relax and Take Metro to See the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles Sunday Night at FedEx Field


Addison Road-Seat Pleasant and Landover Metrorail Stations to stay open past midnight to get fans home from the game

This Sunday evening, the Washington Redskins will host their neighbors to the north, the Philadelphia Eagles, starting at 8:30 p.m. at FedEx Field. With approximately 91,000 fans expected to be in attendance, the Addison Road-Seat Pleasant and Landover Metrorail stations will stay open past midnight and additional trains will be placed in service to make sure all fans attending the game have return transportation home. All other Metrorail stations will be open for customers to exit the system until 2 a.m. The last Blue Line train departing the Addison Road-Seat Pleasant station will leave at 1:30 a.m., and the last Orange Line train departing the Landover station will leave at 1:39 a.m., two hours later than normal. Below is additional information for patrons using Metro on Sundayevening: The Redskins will provide Metrobus shuttle bus service starting at 5:30 p.m. from the Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail station on the Blue Line, and the Landover Metrorail station on the Orange Line to FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. Representatives from the Redskins will collect $5 from Metrobus customers after they arrive at the stadium. After the game, customers should be sure to return to the exact location where the shuttle bus dropped them off. The Redskins will provide Metrobus shuttle service from the adjacent office parking lots at Mercantile Lane, McCormick Drive, and Technology Way starting at 4:30 p.m. and continuing throughout and after the game. Shuttle buses returning to Addison Road-Seat Pleasant, Landover, and the office parking lots will end approximately one hour after the game ends. Metro advises customers attending the Sunday night football game at Fedex Field to follow these travel tips:

  • For customers who do not have one, they can purchase a SmarTrip card from a Metro sales outlet, transit store, or from a dispensing machine located in the free area of a Metrorail station mezzanine with a parking facility.
  • As a reminder, parking is free at all Metro parking facilities on the weekends and holidays.
  • Buy multiple farecards faster and easier by using the Passes/Farecards machine at Metrorail stations.
  • Buy round-trip farecards when first entering the system.
  • Keep farecards clean and dry so they will work on the return trip home.
  • Listen to station and train announcements.
  • Check the final destination displayed on the side of the train to be sure you" re boarding the right train.
  • After the game, check the destination station displayed on the side of the Metrobus Shuttle to be sure you are going to the right Metrorail station.
  • Take special care of children when traveling on Metrorail and Metrobus.
