Orange and Blue Line delays expected for this evening’s commute

Metrorail service on the Blue and Orange lines is shut down between Federal Triangle and Farragut West Metrorail stations this afternoon because of an accident at Metro Center. Customers can expect major delays throughout the Blue and Orange lines for the evening commute and should plan extra time or find alternate routes of getting home.

Preliminary reports indicate that a person was struck at Metro Center Metrorail station by an Orange Line train headed to New Carrollton at 2:06 p.m. D.C. Fire and Metro Transit Police responded to the incident. The incident caused Metro to shut down the Orange and Blue Lines at Metro Center Metrorail station.

Shuttle bus service has been established between Federal Triangle and Farragut West Metrorail stations.
