Metrobus Routes 96 and 97 detours begin Saturday, January 22

Metrobus Routes 96 and 97 will make detours beginning Saturday, January 22, because of street closures on Capitol Hill related to the construction of underground utilities for the Capitol Visitor Center. East Capitol Street between First and Second streets will be closed to traffic effective Saturday for approximately nine months.

Metrobus Routes 96 and 97 will be detoured as follows:

Westbound Metrobuses will follow the regular route to the intersection of East Capitol and 2nd streets. Then buses will turn left on 2nd Street, right on Independence Avenue SE, right on 1st Street SE to East Capitol Street where they will resume the regular route.

Eastbound Metrobuses will follow the regular route to the intersection of 1st and East Capitol streets. Buses will continue on 1st Street SE, turn left on Independence Avenue, left on 2nd Street, right on East Capitol Street where they will resume the regular route.
