Normal service expected for afternoon rush hour after Metro fixes cracked rail at Van Dorn Street Metorail station


Track work continues at Ronald Reagan Washington Airport Metrorail station

Metrorail has completed repairs on a cracked rail at the Van Dorn Street Metrorail station on the Blue Line. As of 2:40 p.m., Metrorail resumed normal service on the Blue Line and is ready to provide full service for the afternoon peak period.

While the track was being repaired, Metro had to single-track trains between Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street Metrorail stations.

The crack was discovered at 7:09 a.m. and track crews immediately were dispatched to the scene to begin repairs. A temporary fix was put in place by 9:20 a.m. After the morning rush hour, track crews returned to Van Dorn Metrorail station to make permanent repairs.

Metro is continuing to work on the track near the Ronald Reagan Washington Airport Metrorail station after a crack was discovered shortly before 10 a.m. The work at the airport station will not affect Blue or Yellow line traffic.
