Metrobus service route changes in Marylandbegin the week of March 27


Schedule adjustments designed to improve service

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 21 lines in Maryland starting the week of March 27. These changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on others, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.

College Park Line, Routes 81, 82, 83 and 86 The Saturday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability. Sunday 81and 86 trip times will be coordinated with 84 for more even intervals between Rhode Island Avenue Station and Mt. Rainier. On Sunday morning the first two westbound trips will start at New Carrollton instead of at East Pines.

Rhode Island Avenue-New Carrollton Line, Routes 84 and 85 The weekday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability. On Saturday, trip times will be coordinated with Routes 83, 86, and T18 for more even intervals between Rhode Island and Mt. Rainier. On Sunday morning the first two westbound trips will start at New Carrollton instead of at East Pines.

Laurel Express Line, Route 87 only There will be a new Route 87 trip leaving 1st and Main in Laurel at 4:46 a.m., arriving at Greenbelt Metrorail station at 5:32 a.m. and connecting with a train departing at 5:36 a.m. There will also be a new Route 87 trip leaving Greenbelt Metrorail station at 5:51 a.m., connecting with the first outbound train, which arrives at 5:47 a.m. Bowie-Belair Line, Routes B24 and B25 The running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability. The rush hour service will operate at slightly closer intervals than currently, and the first trip from New Carrollton Metrorail station at 5:45 a.m. will be discontinued.

Greenbelt-Twinbrook Line, Routes C2 and C4 The Saturday running time will be increased to improve service reliability. For part of the midday period on Saturday, frequencies will be increased from every 30 minutes on each route (15 minutes combined) to every 24 minutes on each route (12 minutes combined) to relieve standing loads.

Hillcrest Heights Line, Routes C12 and C14 The weekday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Oxon Hill-Suitland Line, Routes D12 and D14 All Saturday and Sunday D14 trips will operate via Regency Parkway, as do all weekday D13 and D14 trips. On Saturday, service on both D12 and D14 will be extended to operate past 11:30 p.m. Chillum Road Line, Route F1 The weekday rush service will be widened in both the morning and afternoon from every 20 minutes to every 25 minutes.

Prince George’s-Silver Spring Line, Route F4 The Saturday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Ardwick Industrial Park Shuttle Line, Route F12 The running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Cheverly-Washington Business Park Line, Route F13 The running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Sheriff Road-Capitol Heights Line, Route F14 The Saturday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Eastover-Addison Road Line, Route P12 Saturday service will be extended to operate earlier in the morning and later at night.

Veirs Mill Road Line, Route Q2 The weekday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Riggs Road Line, Route R2 The Saturday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Greenbelt-Fort Totten Line, Route R3 The Saturday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability.

Queens Chapel Road Line, Route R4 The weekday and Sunday running times will be adjusted to improve service reliability. Service will be widened slightly during the morning and afternoon rush periods.

Greenbelt Line, Routes T16 and T17 The weekday running time will be adjusted to improve service reliability. Saturday trips will again serve the NASA-Goddard Visitors Center, which has reopened.

Annapolis Road Line, Route T18 Saturday trip times will be coordinated with Routes 83, 86 and 84 for more even trip intervals between Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station and Mt. Rainier.

District Heights-Suitland Line, Route V12 A new trip will be added to leave Suitland Metrorail station for Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail station on Sunday mornings at 7 a.m. Presently, the first two V12 departures from Suitland Metrorail station are at 6 and 8:37 a.m.

Georgia Avenue-Maryland Line, Routes Y5, Y7, Y8, and Y9 The weekday, Saturday and Sunday running times will be adjusted to improve service reliability. In addition, there will be some adjustments to service patterns and frequencies on Saturday and Sunday. Consult the new timetable for details.
