Sixty percent of the fans who attended the first Washington Nationals home game took Metro. On Thursday, April 14th, Metrorail reached its fourth highest weekday ridership with 766,184 trips 27,325 of whom went to the game.

Metro saw large crowds exiting Stadium-Armory from 4 p.m. up to game time. The large crowds returned after the game, so Metro managers deployed 17 eight-car trains to immediately get people home efficiently. There were no significant service delays as trains ran smoothly.

Metro Transit Police and rail supervisors handled the crowds by staffing the station’s two entrances and turning off the escalators to ensure the safe flow of riders.
