Metro announces weekend single tracking

This weekend, Metro will perform track maintenance on the Red Line. During this work period, customers’ trips will take 10-15 minutes longer than usual.

Please note the following schedule for this weekend:

Red Line - On Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17, from opening (7 a.m.) to 10 a.m., trains will share one track between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood.

To perform this work, Metro must single-track trains  operate trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.

On the Red Line between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood, Metro personnel will be performing automatic train control system maintenance and therefore, it will require personnel to be in key safety-sensitive areas of the rail system.
