Metro’s Annual Bus and Rail Rodeos to Take Place April 30

Metro’s 2005 Rail and Bus Rodeos, which highlight rail and bus operator and maintenance worker skills, will take place on Saturday, April 30. The Rail Rodeo will be held at the Branch Avenue Rail Yard, 5700 Capital Gateway Drive, Suitland, MD, from 7 a.m to 6 p.m. The Bus Roadeo, will be held at the Landover Division, 3433 Pennsy Drive, Hyattsville, MD, from 8 a.m to 3 p.m.

Metrorail station managers, operators and rail car maintenance teams will showcase their skills in the annual Rodeo competition. The first and second place train operators and first place maintenance team will travel to Pittsburgh, for the International Rail Rodeo competition. The Rodeo will also feature the fourth annual custom car and bike show, where Metro employees show off their hottest and fastest cars.

Metrobus operators and maintenance teams will demonstrate their skills in the annual Roadeo competition through a series of events. The competitors are scored on professional appearance and on the ability to safely and quickly complete an obstacle course or troubleshoot maintenance problems. The first place operator and maintenance team will travel to Dallas in September and represent Metro at the International Bus Roadeo competition

These annual events also include face painting, domino and table tennis tournaments, games for the kids, music, food, and special visitors McGruff the Crime Dog, Max the Metro Dog and the Metrobus Robot.
