Gary Malasky to lead Metro’s property development and management efforts

Gary Malasky has joined the Metropolitan Washington Area Transit Authority (Metro) as Director of Property Development and Management.

Malasky is the founder of Malasky Properties, Inc., a commercial real estate development company, and was a senior officer Washington Real Estate Investment Trust. He has more than 25 years of experience in complex real estate transactions, including ground-up development, acquisitions, dispositions and management. In addition, he has experience working with local governments in regard to easements, specialized land use restrictions and zoning matters.

At Metro, Malasky will lead the joint development program which seeks to foster Metro ridership by encouraging transit-oriented development around Metro stations. He will also oversee the creation of a new program to place retail uses in Metro stations.

Malasky is a graduate of the Wharton School and Harvard Law School.
