Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

This weekend, Metro would like to remind its customers of the following service changes due to track maintenance on the Red and Orange Lines, and canopy construction at the Dupont Circle Metrorail station.

Please note the following schedule changes for this weekend:

Red Line - On Saturday, April 30, from opening (7 a.m.) to 11 a.m., and Sunday, May 1, from opening (7 a.m.) to noon, trains will share one track between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood.

Orange Line - On Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, from opening (7 a.m.) to 6 p.m., trains will share one track between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.

On the Red Line between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood, Metro personnel will be upgrading the automatic train control system in conjunction with the new crossover outside the New York Avenue Metrorail station. On the Orange Line Metro personnel will perform routine track maintenance between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA.

Canopy Installation - On Sunday, May 1, the Dupont Circle Metrorail station’s south entrance on the Red Line located on the southwest corner of Connecticut Avenue and 19th Street N.W., will be closed from opening (7 a.m.) to 7:30 p.m., while personnel work on the installation of the new escalator canopy. Customers who use this entrance should use the north entrance located on the southwest corner of Connecticut Avenue and Q Street N.W.
