Free Shuttle Buses Available from RFK Stadium after the Nationals Game26 Additional Trains Available Systemwide To Transport Patrons to Both Events

Both free shuttle buses and extra trains will be used on Saturday night to get the high volume of fans home after the Nationals game. Extra trains will also be used to take Wizards fans home after their game.

Saturday evening will be crowded in the Metrorail system as fans head to the Nationals and Wizards games. The Washington Nationals will host the Chicago Cubs at RFK Stadium on Saturday at 7:05 p.m., and an hour later, the Washington Wizards will host the Miami Heat at the MCI Center.

With both of these events expected to draw large crowds, Metro will operate free shuttle buses from RFK Stadium to Union Station for the first time as a pilot after the Nationals game. Extra trains and extra personnel will be used as well throughout the system.

For Saturday’s events, patrons can expect the following Metro services:

Metro will operate six-car trains leading up to game time for all events.

Before and after the games, Metro will have up to 26 additional trains available systemwide (a combination of six-cars and eight-cars) for patrons traveling to and from Gallery Place-Chinatown on the Red, Green and Yellow Line for the Wizards, and Stadium-Armory on the Orange and Blue Line for the Nationals.

After the Nationals game, Metro will provide free one-way shuttle buses from RFK Stadium to Union Station. These buses will be staged at Parking Lot #3, outside of RFK Stadium.

Fans headed to and from the Nationals game are reminded to use both entrances at the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. The main entrance, closest to RFK Stadium, is located at 19th Street and Independence Avenue, S.E. The second entrance, is located two blocks away at 19th Street between C and Burke Streets, S.E.

Patrons attending the Wizards game are reminded to use all three station entrances at Gallery Place-Chinatown in addition to the main 7th and F Street entrance. Patrons can utilize the 7th and H Street N.W., and 9th and G Street entrances, or the Judiciary Square Metrorail station at 5th and F Street, N.W., a block away.

Metro will have additional station managers, rail supervisors, and Transit Police at Gallery Place-Chinatown and Stadium-Armory to assist customers.

Upon entering the Metrorail system, riders should purchase enough value on their farecards or SmarTrip cards for their round-trip.
