Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

This weekend, Metro would like to remind its customers of the following service changes due to track maintenance on the Red, Orange and Blue Lines. Customers traveling on these rail lines this weekend will need to plan accordingly and build extra time into their schedules.

Please note the following schedule changes for this weekend:

Orange and Blue Line - Starting Friday, May 20, at 10 p.m., and continuing through Sunday, May 22, closing (midnight), all Orange and Blue Line trains will share one track between Eastern Market and Cheverly on the Orange Line, and Eastern Market and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant on the Blue Line. [To help expedite the flow of rail travel, every other Orange Line train will terminate at Eastern Market and return to Vienna/Fairfax-GMU, and every other Blue Line train will terminate at Eastern Market and return to Franconia-Springfield.]

Red Line - On Saturday, May 21, from opening (7 a.m.) to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May, 22, from opening (7 a.m.) to noon, trains will share one track between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.

On the Orange and Blue Lines this weekend, Metro will personnel will be performing switch replacement track work outside of the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. As a result, trains will share one track through this location. Customers must add 15 to 20 minutes of time when traveling through this location. [Patrons attending the D.C. United soccer game on Saturday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m., are advised to build extra time into their schedules while traveling to the game.]

On the Red Line between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood, Metro personnel will be performing routine track maintenance between these locations.
