Minnesota Ave station incident cleared

The Minnesota Ave Metrorail station reopened for normal service at 5:10 p.m. after a woman was struck and killed by an inbound six-car train at 3:33 p.m.

Orange Line trains single tracked this afternoon from 3:33 to 5:10 p.m. and the station was temporarily closed from the time of the incident until 4:53 p.m. while police and emergency personnel were on the tracks at the Minnesota Avenue Metrorail station to investigate the incident.

Twenty Metrobuses were used to move passengers who were planning to enter or exit via the Minnesota Ave station while the station was temporarily closed.

Significant delays were experienced throughout the afternoon rush period on the Orange Line due to the incident as well as a continuing track circuit problem at Rosslyn.
