Metrobus service changes in Maryland begin June 26

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on two lines in Maryland beginning June 26. The changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on other routes, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.

Indian Head Express Line, Route W19: Service will be rescheduled to better tail capacity to demand. The number of morning trips will reduced from 11 to 10, with the arrivals of the first and last trips at Southern Avenue Metrorail station connecting with inbound Green Line trains. The number of afternoon/evening trips will remain at 10 and the time of the first and last departures will not change. The times of most intermediate trips both morning and afternoon/evening will be adjusted to provide more frequent service when demand is higher and to widen it slightly when passenger loads are lighter.

Fairland Line, Route Z8: There will be minor running time adjustments on weekdays. The frequency of service and the arrival and departure times at Silver Spring Metrorail station will not change, but trips may pass other timepoints at slightly different times than they do now. Two trips will operate earlier to improve transfer connections. The first weekday inbound trip will leave Stewart Lane and Old Columbia Pike (White Oak) at 4:50 a.m. and arrive at Silver Spring Metrorail station at 5:11 a.m. to connect with the inbound Red Line train at 5:25 a.m. The last weekday inbound trip, which leaves Briggs Chaney Park & Ride lot at 11:37 p.m., will be changed to leave at 11:30 p.m. to connect with the last inbound K6 trip, which leaves Lockwood Drive at the White Oak Shopping Center at 11:56 p.m.
