Temporary fix of Red Line rail crack allows normal service
Work crews to make fix permanent late tonight
Early morning Red Line trains single-tracked between Dupont Circle and Farragut North when a cracked rail was discovered on the inbound side at 5:15 a.m. By 6:30 a.m. a temporary fix was in place, allowing trains to return to using both tracks at normal speeds.
Work crews will return to the area tonight after the rail system closes to replace the affected piece of track.
