Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

Track Work This Weekend on the Red Line

This weekend, Metro will conduct a track maintenance project on the Red Line. Customers traveling on the Red Line this weekend should plan accordingly and build extra time into their schedules.

Please note the following schedule change for this weekend:

Red Line - Starting Friday, June 24, at 10 p.m., and continuing through Sunday, June 26, at midnight, all Red Line trains will share one track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen. All trains will operate every 14 minutes through the single track work location.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.

On the Red Line this weekend, Metro will perform switch replacement track work outside of the Silver Spring Metrorail station. As a result, trains will share one track on this portion of the Red Line in this location.

For more information on traveling by Metrorail or Metrobus, customers may call (202) 637-7000, TTY at (202) 638-3780, or visit Metro’s Web site at www.metroopensdoors.com.
