Metro carried 540,875 passengers on July 4
No significant operational problems or delays encountered
A Washington Nationals baseball game and beautiful weather combined to bring out strong crowds as Metrorail carried a total of 540,875 passengers yesterday. (Metrorail service began at 7 a.m. on Monday and ended at midnight.) As expected, the busiest stations were Federal Triangle, L’Enfant Plaza and Metro Center.
Metro experienced no significant operations problems yesterday as a total of 937 scheduled including 10 eight-car trains moved over a half-million people to and from the Independence Day festivities on the Mall.
In addition, for the sixth consecutive year, the special Fourth of July service pattern aided customers in quickly arriving at, and returning to their destinations after the festivities on the National Mall.
Additionally, 975 people also took advantage of 12 free DC Circulator shuttles and three Metrobus shuttles from RFK Stadium to Union Station following the Washington Nationals baseball game.
