Metro details train service disruptions on its Web site

Metro today began posting details of train delays on its Web site.

Riders can visit "Yesterday’s Service" for a listing of major and minor weekday rail delays.

Customers will see the date of the previous day’s service disruption, the time, the Line on which the incident occurred and details about what happened. The percentage of riders who experienced no delays will be posted, as well as rail and bus ridership numbers and special event information.

Metro will continue to issue alerts on delays in real time via e-mail, on the Web site, through station and train announcements and on electronic message boards located in stations.

The posting is another customer service initiative meant to improve communications with passengers. So far this year, the agency has added a public comment period to Metro Board meetings, held town hall meetings, posted board and committee materials and simulcast Board meetings on its Web site and provided e-mail contact for Board members. Metro also is developing a Riders Advisory Council that will be formed later this year.
