Cheverly Metrorail Station elevators to undergo 10-week modernization

Shuttle service will be available upon request

Two platform elevators at the Cheverly Metrorail station will undergo modernization beginning Monday, July 18. The elevators are scheduled to be out of service for 10 weeks during which time a temporary shuttle bus will be available for customers who request it. The elevators are expected to return to service by the end of September.

Metro will provide shuttle service from the Landover Metrorail station for customers who are unable to use the escalators at the Cheverly Metrorail station. Customers should call 202-962-1825 in advance of their trip or notify a Metrorail station manager to arrange for a shuttle van to pick them up.

An elevator modernization includes replacing a majority of the mechanical parts and elevator cab equipment with new ones to ensure the elevator operates safely and reliably for customers, and extends the lifecycle of the elevator.
