Metro to hold public hearing on parking at Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station

The Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority will hold a public hearing in conjunction with the District of Columbia government about a proposal to reduce the number of parking spaces at the Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station and relocate the spaces to a garage to be constructed at the station.

The public hearing will be held on July 27, at the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church, 1200 Isle of Patmos Plaza, NE, Washington, D.C. The site is accessible to individuals with disabilities. The public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. It will be preceded by an open house at 6 p.m.

The proposal includes a parking reduction from 387 to 215 total spaces, and the relocation of the parking spaces to a garage to be built at the Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station.

Comments will be accepted verbally and in writing at the public hearing or via e-mail. All organizations or individuals desired to be heard with respect to the proposed Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station parking reduction, relocation and garage construction can present their views. To establish a witness list, individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to be heard at the public hearing are requested to furnish, by August 8, their name, address, telephone number and organization affiliation, if any, to: Harold Bartlett, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 or by e-mail at public-hearing-testimony@wmata.com.
