Metro announces additional weekend service changes

Maintenance work this weekend on the Red, Blue, and Yellow Lines

This weekend, in addition to the station closures on the Orange Line at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and Dunn Loring-Merrifield, Metro will also conduct maintenance work on the Red, Blue, and Yellow lines. Customers traveling on these rail lines should plan accordingly and add 15 to 20 minutes of extra time into their schedules.

Please note the following schedule changes for this weekend:

Red Line - On Friday, August 12, from 10 p.m. until closing (3 a.m.) trains will share one track between Rhode Island Avenue and Judiciary Square to allow Metro personnel to conduct maintenance on communications cables.

Red Line - On Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, from opening (7 a.m.) to 5 p.m., trains will share one track between Takoma and Silver Spring to allow Metro personnel to conduct routine track maintenance.

Blue/Yellow Line - On Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, from opening (7 a.m.) to 10 a.m., all Yellow Line trains will share one track from Huntington to Braddock Road and all Blue Line trains will share one track from Van Dorn Street to Braddock Road. This is to allow for the continued installation of the new station platform canopy at the King Street Metrorail station.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.
