Metro announces weekend service changes

Maintenance work this weekend on the Red, Blue and Yellow lines

This weekend, Metro will conduct maintenance work on the Red, Blue and Yellow lines. Customers should plan accordingly and add 15 to 20 minutes of extra time into their schedules.

Please note the following schedule changes for this weekend:

Blue/Yellow Line - From 10 p.m. Friday, August 26 to 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27, and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, August 28, all Yellow Line trains will share one track from Huntington to Braddock Road and all Blue Line trains will share one track from Van Dorn Street to Braddock Road. This is to allow for the continued installation of the new station platform canopy at the King Street Metrorail station.

Red Line - On Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, from opening (7 a.m.) to 5 p.m., trains will share one track between Takoma and Silver Spring Metrorail station to allow Metro personnel to conduct routine track maintenance.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.
