Use the bridge to get to Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail Station

Cross East-West Highway safely

Metro reminds customers to use the pedestrian bridge to travel between the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail station and Prince George’s Plaza. The bridge spanning East-West Highway provides a safe and convenient route for Metrorail customers to get to and from the station and the mall.

Because crossing the highway can be dangerous, the Maryland State Highway Administration is building a fence along the median and installing railing on both sides of East-West Highway to end dangerous jay walking. The Highway Administration expects to complete the project by mid-September.

Metro has posted signs in the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail station and created informational fliers in Spanish and English that encourage Metrorail customers to use the bridge to cross East-West Highway. The free brochures are available in the sation and at apartment buildings in the surrounding communities. Metro Transit Police Department officers will hand out the brochures and visit nearby schools to inform students about the bridge and pedestrian safety. In addition, Metro will make station announcements and use the Passenger Information Display monitors to remind customers to use the bridge to cross the highway.
