Metrobus service changes in Virginia begin September 25

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 10 lines in Virginia beginning September 25. The changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on other routes, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.

Pershing Drive - Arlington Boulevard Line, Route 4A only

The westbound route around Culmore Shopping Center will be changed to operate around the west side of the shopping center via Leesburg Pike eastbound. Westbound 4A buses will not serve the stop on Glen Carlyn Drive east, on the far side of Leesburg Pike (east of the shopping center). Bus times will not change.

Lincolnia - North Fairlington Line, Route 7C only

Two buses will be added to the schedule. A northbound morning trip will leave Park Center at 6:05 a.m. to the Pentagon. A southbound bus will leave the Pentagon at 7:05 p.m. to Park Center.

Hunting Towers - Potomac Yard - Crystal City Line, Route 9B

New timetables will be issued showing the change in the street name from South Clark Place to South Bell Street in Crystal City. Bus times will not change.

Mount Vernon Avenue - Potomac Yard - Crystal City Line, Route 10P

New timetables will be issued showing the change in the street name, from South Clark Place to South Bell Street in Crystal City. Bus times will not change.

Centreville South Line, Route 12A only

Bus service will be rerouted between Lee Highway and Centrewood Drive via Machen Road, St. Germain Drive and Field Encampment Road. This change restores early afternoon and evening service along these streets. 12A service will be discontinued on southbound Centrewood Drive between Lee Highway and Field Encampment Road. The 3:10 p.m. bus from Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station will be changed to leave at 3:12 p.m. All buses will arrive at Centreville Methodist Church two minutes later than currently scheduled.

Stringfellow Road - Vienna Line, Route 12R only

The early afternoon extended eastbound trip leaving the Centreville Methodist Church at 2:18 p.m. will leave at 2:20 p.m. Buses that leave Westfields (Park Meadow Drive at #14280, south of Westfields Boulevard) at 3:51 and 4:19 p.m. will allow customers to get on the bus at the first stop on the Westfields loop on Newbrook Drive prior to the terminal stand on Park Meadow Drive. These buses will pass stops on Newbrook Drive about five minutes earlier than the scheduled departure times for Park Meadow Drive.

Columbia Heights West - Pentagon City Line, Route 16H only

Service will be extended from Pentagon City station to Crystal City station and from Barcroft (Four Mile Run Drive and Columbia Pike) to Columbia Pike and Jefferson Street.

Morning eastbound: In the mornings, buses will leave Jefferson Street via Columbia Pike to Four Mile Run Drive east, then continue via the present routing to Pentagon City station. From this station, buses will continue to Crystal City station via 12th, South Fern, 15th and South Bell streets.

Afternoon westbound: In the afternoons, buses will leave Crystal City station via South Bell, 18th and South Hayes streets to Pentagon City station where buses will resume the present routing to Columbia Pike and Buchanan Street. Buses will continue via Columbia Pike to South Jefferson Street and the entrance of Goodwin House West.

The schedule will change slightly to accommodate the extended routes, but buses will continue to run every 24 minutes in peak hours.

McLean - Crystal City Line, Routes 23A, C

New timetables will be issued showing the change in the street name from South Clark Place to South Bell Street in Crystal City.

Ballston - Farragut Square Line, Route 38B

Weekday evening running times will be adjusted on westbound trips leaving Farragut Square week- nights after 10 p.m. so that these trips pass stops between Rosslyn and Ballston-MU stations two minutes earlier than currently scheduled.

TAGS - Springfield Circulator, Routes S80, S91

S91 buses will run every 15 minutes in the mornings from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and in the evenings between 5 and 7:30 p.m. due to the Virginia Department of Transportation discontinuation of funds. During these hours S80 and S91 buses will run every 7.5 minutes between Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station and Springfield Mall. Outside of these hours, TAGS S80 buses will continue to run every 15 minutes between Franconia-Springfield station, Metro Park, Springfield Mall and the Springfield Hilton.

The cash fare on the S91 trips will remain at 25¢. The current TAGS transfer policy will apply to all S91 trips (Metrobus and Fairfax Connector transfers accepted, bus transfer issued will be valid for 50¢. Rail transfers not accepted.)
