Metrobus service changes in the District of Columbia begin September 25

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on seven lines in the District of Columbia beginning September 25. The changes are in response to customer requests and will improve service reliability and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.

Bladensburg Road - Anacostia Line, Route B2

The weekday schedule will change to reflect current traffic conditions. There will be no change in the number of scheduled trips.

Brookland - Potomac Park Line, Route H1

The weekday schedule will change to reflect current traffic conditions. There will be no change in the number of scheduled trips. Morning southbound buses will leave the Brookland-CUA Metrorail station at 6:20, 6:42, 7:02, 7:22, 7:38, 7:55, 8:13, 8:29 and 8:47 a.m. Afternoon northbound trips will leave C and 17th Streets, NW, weekdays at 4:20, 4:40, 5, 5:20, 5:45 and 6:10 p.m.

Takoma - Walter Reed Line, Route K1

Buses will leave Takoma station at 6:07, 6:22, 6:39, 6:57, 7:13, 7:32, 7:48, 8:07, 8:24, 8:42 and 9 a.m. Morning trip time changes will better coordinate train arrivals. Afternoon bus times will not change.

Connecticut Avenue Line Routes L2, L4

Supplemental holiday service, which runs on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, will be changed. Six northbound L4 buses, which run between Dupont Circle and Chevy Chase Circle will be discontinued and be replaced by eight northbound L2 buses that run between Van Ness-UDC station and Chevy Chase Circle. These L2 buses will leave Connecticut Avenue and Veazey Terrace, NW, at 5:05, 5:20, 5:35, 5:50, 6:05, 6:20, 6:39 and 6:54 p.m.

Fairfax Village Line, Route M6

The weekday off-peak schedule will change to reflect current traffic conditions. Buses will leave Potomac Ave station every 40 minutes between 10 a.m. and 2:40 p.m.

Navy Yard Shuttle, Route N22

The schedule will not change but the route will be modified slightly to a loop operatin with one terminal at the Navy Yard station. Buses will follow the existing route from New Jersey Avenue and M Street SE to 1st Street and Constitution Avenue NE. Buses will turn left on Constitution Avenue, right on 1st Street NW, right on Louisiana Avenue, right on D Street, left on 1st Street NE and left on Columbus Circle (Union Station Plaza outer roadway). Buses will bear left on Massachusetts Avenue (at the west end of plaza), left on North Capitol Street, right on Louisiana Avenue NW, left on 1st Street, left on Constitution Avenue and right on 1st Street NE where buses will continue the regular route to Navy Yard Station. N22 buses will serve the westbound stop on Columbus Circle (Union Station Plaza outer roadway).

Benning Road - H Street Line, Route X2 (Effective August 29)

Three eastbound buses that run from Benning Road and 19th Street, NE to the Minnesota Ave station on days when public schools are in session, were discontinued, and replaced by five eastbound buses that leave Benning Road and 19th Street, NE at 2:50, 2:55, 3, 3:05 and 3:10 p.m. This change was made to accommodate the new dismissal time at Friendship Edison Public Charter School. The 3:54 p.m. westbound bus from Minnesota Ave station, which runs only when schools are open, also was discontinued.
