Metro’s Board of Directors Approves Initiative for Enhanced Metrobus Cleaning

In its continuing effort to enhance reliability and customer service, Metro’s Board of Directors today approved an initiative to increase the frequency of cleaning the entire Metrobus fleet from a bi-weekly schedule to a weekly schedule.

"Increasing the frequency of Metrobus cleaning from a bi-weekly to weekly will improve the cleanliness of the Metrobus fleet for our passengers," said Jack Requa, Chief Operating Officer for Metrobus.

The enhanced cleaning of all Metrobuses is scheduled to begin in February 2006, at a cost of $1.2 million.

Last year, Metro General Manager and CEO Richard A. White unveiled a plan to improve Metrorail and Metrobus service reliability and customer service through a series of initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction. The enhanced cleaning is one of several objectives outlined to improve bus and rail services.
