A campaign promoting off-peak Metro ridership won a grand prize AdWheel Award. The home page of MetroOpensDoors.com and an advertising print campaign promoting SmarTrip on Metrobus won first place awards. All three award-winning campaigns highlight the benefits of Metro for its customers.

The "Metro. Wherever you go." off-peak ridership campaign, created by Metro’s advertising agency LM&O, touts the convenience of Metrorail and Metrobus. It encourages customers to take Metro to museums, movies, ballgames and other destinations on weekends, at night and during the midday hours.

Metro’s Web site, which was originally launched in 1996, was redesigned in 2004 to make it easier for current and potential customers to find information. The home page prominently features Trip Planner, service alert status, and menus leading to information such as schedules, maps and fare information so that customers have what they need to plan their bus or rail trips at their fingertips.

The SmarTrip on Metrobus ads announces the ability to use SmarTrip cards on Metrobus and how using the cards make boarding faster and easier. The ad urges customers to "Get on board with SmarTrip" and provides information on how to buy a SmarTrip card.

The Annual APTA AdWheel Awards competition honors excellence in advertising, marketing, promotion, communications materials and campaigns.
