Metro Announces Additional Weekend Service Changes

Trains to Share One Track on the Red and Green Lines

This weekend, in addition to the major track maintenance project at the Braddock Road Metrorail station on the Blue and Yellow Lines, Metro has scheduled additional weekend work on the Red and Green Lines. Customers traveling on these rail lines should plan accordingly and add extra time into their schedules.

Please note the following schedule changes for this weekend:

Red Line - On Friday, September 30, from 10 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.), Red Line trains will share one track between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood while Metro personnel install communication cables between these locations.

Red Line - On Saturday, October 1, from opening (7 a.m.) to 5 p.m., Red Line trains will share one track between Silver Spring and Takoma while Metro personnel conduct routine track maintenance.

Green Line - On Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, from opening (7 a.m.) to 7 p.m., Green Line trains will share one track between Greenbelt and Fort Totten while Metro conducts rail equipment testing.

To perform this work, all trains will share one track between these work locations -- trains traveling in opposite directions alternately on the same track.
