Metrorail street map added to Metro Web site

A new online street map showing the location of all Metrorail stations and lines is now available on the Metro Web site. The online tool enables users to see where Metrorail stations are relative to major streets and landmarks.

<" xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The map allows visitors to pan and zoom to and from the entire service area down to the streets immediately surrounding individual stations. In addition, the online maps allow visitors to toggle between street map and satellite photo views.

Once Web visitors find a station of interest and click on the Metrorail station icon, they can find the station name, address and link to that station’s detail page. The station pages provide information on parking, first and last departure times, fares and travel times to other stations, elevator/escalator status, car-sharing and more.

"This map lets us meet a common request," said Leona Agouridis, Metro Assistant General Manager for Communications. "Customers regularly tell us they like the neighborhood maps posted in our stations and wish they could see this same detail on a Web map before entering the Metrorail system. This map is also a big help to customers driving to and from stations."

The <" xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Metrorail street map is accessible from the homepage and directly at http://www.wmata.com/maps/metrorail_street_map.cfm.
