Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

Metrorail passengers can expect minor delays on the Orange, Blue, Yellow, and Green Lines this weekend. Passengers traveling on these rail lines should plan accordingly and add five to 10 minutes into their schedules. The weekend service changes are:

Orange Line

Starting Friday, November 18, at 10 p.m., and ending Monday, November 21, at 4:30 a.m., all Orange Line trains will share one track between the West Falls Church-VT/UVA and Ballston Metrorail stations while Metro personnel replace a switch outside the East Falls Church Metrorail station. A switch is a piece of track that allows trains to switch from one track to another. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Orange Line can expect minor delays and should add 10 minutes of additional travel time to their trip.

Blue and Yellow Line:

On Friday, November 18, from 10 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.), all Blue and Yellow Line trains will share one track between Braddock Road and the Pentagon City Metrorail stations while Metro personnel conduct routine track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Blue and Yellow Line should add 10 minutes of additional travel time to their trip.

Green Line

On Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., all Green Line trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations, while Metro tests rail cars. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Green Line should add five to 10 minutes of travel time to their trip.

The Trip Planner, located on Metro’s Web site, will not reflect the impact of this work on its schedules. Customers should allow more time for their trips because of this work. For more information on traveling by Metrobus or Metrorail, customers may call (202) 637-7000 or TTY (202) 638-3780.
