Metro to dedicate antique 1957 bus in honor of Rosa Parks
December 1 is National Transit Tribute to Rosa Parks Day
What:
To commemorate Rosa Parks and her courageous act of civil disobedience, Metro will dedicate a 1957 Metrobus in her honor. The antique bus was last used during the Washington region’s tribute to Rosa Parks after her death. The Rosa Parks Metrobus will feature an inscription that reads:
It All Started on a Bus...
On December 1, 1955,
she changed the course of history and inspired us all.

Why:
The American Public Transportation Association has declared December 1 National Transit Tribute to Rosa Parks Day. December 1, 2005, marks the 50th anniversary of Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her seat on a Montgomery, AL, bus.
In addition to unveiling the Rosa Parks Metrobus, Metrobus operators will make special announcements throughout the day commemorating Rosa Parks.
