The Majority of Dupont Circle Metrorail Station Entrance Escalators Not in Service Due to Electrical Problems

At the Dupont Circle Metrorail station on the Red Line, all three south entrance escalators located on the southwest corner of Connecticut Avenue and 19th Street N.W., are out of service, and two of three entrance escalators at the Q Street entrance are out of service due to electrical problems. The street entrance elevator at Q Street is in service.

Shortly before morning rush hour, the main power supply system to the station’s escalators, and elevators encountered an electrical failure. The source of the failure was identified, and Metro and PEPCO are working to resolve the issue.

Metro and PEPCO hope to make the final repairs by later this evening. Metro is providing free shuttle bus service from the Farragut North Metrorail station upon request.
