Metro to hold public hearing on Alexandria Yard shop expansion

The Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority will hold a public hearing on the expansion of the Alexandria Service and Inspection (S&I) Yard Shop in <" xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Alexandria, VA.<" xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

The public hearing will be held on January 4, at the WMATA Systems Maintenance Facility at 195 Telegraph Road, room B214, Alexandria, VA. The public hearing begins at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by an open house at 6 p.m.

 

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation requested that Metro hold a public hearing in anticipation of enlarging the shop at the Alexandria facility so that it can maintain more Metrorail cars. The proposal includes adding 12 maintenance bays and reorienting tracks to the west of the shop to expand the existing maintenance bays.

 

Comments will be accepted verbally and in writing at the public hearing or via e-mail. All organizations or individuals who desire to be heard with respect to the Alexandria S&I expansion project can present their views. To establish a witness list, individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to be heard at the public hearing are requested to furnish their name, address, telephone number and organization affiliation, if any, to: Harold Bartlett, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 or by e-mail at public-hearing-testimony@wmata.com.
