Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

Metrorail passengers can expect minor delays on the Red, Blue and Green lines this weekend due to weekend track maintenance. Passengers traveling on these rail lines should plan accordingly and add at 10 to 15 minutes to their trips. The weekend service changes are:

Red Line

On Saturday, March 4, and Sunday, March 5, from opening (7 a.m.) to 10 a.m., Red Line trains will share one track between the Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail stations. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Red Line should add 10 to 15 minutes of travel time to their trip.

On Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, from 8 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.), and Sunday, March 5, from 10 p.m. to closing (midnight), all Red Line trains will share one track between the Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations for the installation of advertising displays along the tunnel walls between the Metro Center and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations.

Blue Line

Starting on Friday, March 3 at 10 p.m., and continuing through Sunday, March 5, at midnight (closing), all Blue Line trains will share one track between the Addison Road-Seat Pleasant and Stadium-Armory Metrorail stations. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Blue Line should add 10 to 15 minutes of travel time to their trip.

Green Line

On Saturday, March 4, from 8 p.m. to closing (3 a.m.) and Sunday, March 5, from 8 p.m. to closing (midnight), all Green Line trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations, while Metro tests rail cars. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Green Line should add five to 10 minutes of travel time to their trip.
