Metro plans public hearing on proposal to eliminate two Virginia Metrobus routes

Metro will hold a public hearing on the proposed elimination of Metrobus routes 9B and 10P in Alexandria and Arlington, Va.

The public hearing will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street, Alexandria.

Arlington County and the City of Alexandria have requested the elimination of the 9B and 10P.The 9B and 10P, which provide weekday service between Mount Vernon Avenue and Old Town corridors in Alexandria, Potomac Yard shopping center and Crystal City. Both bus routes have low ridership and fail to meet Metro’s productivity standards. Further, the routes duplicate other Metrobus routes and DASH bus service.

Comments will be accepted verbally and in writing at the public hearing or via e-mail. All organizations or individuals who desire to be heard with respect to the proposed elimination of Metrobus routes 9B and 10P can present their views. To establish a witness list, individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to be heard at the public hearing are requested to furnish, by 1 p.m. March 9, their name, address, telephone number and organization affiliation, if any, to: Office of the Secretary, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 or by e-mail at public-hearing-testimony@wmata.com. Please submit only one speaker’s name per letter and refer to Hearing No. 518, Docket B06-1 in the heading.
