Metrobus and MetroAccess Rerouted for National Marathon


Metro Encourages Bus Riders to use Metrorail Saturday Morning MetroAccess Users Encouraged to Schedule Trips Later Saturday If Possible

Road closures for Saturday’s National Marathon will impact several Metrobus routes and MetroAccess service. Patrons who rely on Metrobus and MetroAccess service this Saturday, may experience delays and rerouting during these events. Metro encourages bus riders to build extra time into their schedules and if necessary, use the Metrorail system.

The marathon will mean rerouting 33 Metrobus routes in the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County, Md.

The following District of Columbia Metrobus routes will be impacted: 5A, 13A, 13B, 13F, 13G, 32, 34, 35, 36, 52, 54, 66, 70, 80, 90, 92, 96 B2, D6, T6, S2, S4, U4, U6, V8, and W4.

The following Prince George’s County, Md., Metrobus routes will be impacted: A12, C29, F14, J12, P12, V12 and V14.

In addition to Metrobus detours, patrons who rely on MetroAccess service in the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County, Md., may also experience delays because of the marathon. Metro encourages MetroAccess users to schedule their trips later in the day on Saturday because of the scheduled street closures.

Approximately 2,500 participants are expected to assemble outside RFK Stadium, at the corner of Independence Avenue and 22nd Street in S.E., as the marathon will start shortly before 7 a.m. The race course will wind its way through the National Mall, Capitol Hill, the D.C. Waterfront, Navy Yard, Anacostia, Fort Dupont, and suburban Prince George’s County. The race will end at RFK Stadium at approximately 2 p.m.

Spectators who wish to ride Metrorail can ride to Stadium-Armory, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, and L’Enfant Plaza on the Blue and Orange Line, Navy Yard on the Green Line, and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant and Capitol Heights on the Blue Line.
