Metro Announces Weekend Service Changes

Canopy installation at the Van Ness-UDC Metrorail Station, weekend track maintenance on the Orange and Red lines, and rail car testing on the Green Line are some of the service changes that Metrorail riders can expect this weekend. Full details are below.

Canopy Construction at the Van-Ness UDC Metrorail Station

The Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station’s west entrance on the Red Line will be closed on Saturday April 15, while personnel work on the installation of the new escalator canopy. Customers who normally use this entrance should use the east entrance on the opposite side of Connecticut Avenue. The station’s west entrance is expected to be open on Sunday, April 16.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Starting Friday, April 14, at 10 p.m., and concluding Saturday, April 15, at 5 p.m., Orange Line trains will share one track between the New Carrollton and Cheverly Metrorail stations while Metro performs track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Orange Line should add 10 minutes of travel time for their trip.

Red Line Track Maintenance

On Saturday, April 15, from opening (7 a.m.) to 5 p.m., all Red Line trains will share one track between the Friendship Heights and Medical Center Metrorail stations, while Metro performs track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Red Line should add 10 minutes of travel time for their trip.

Green Line Rail Car Tests

On Saturday, April 15, from opening (7 a.m.) to 3 p.m., Green Line trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and College Park Metrorail stations while Metro tests rail cars. Passengers traveling along this portion of the Green Line should add up to 10 minutes of travel time for their trip.
