Suspect arrested in Deanwood attack

A man accused of attacking and robbing another man at the Deanwood Metrorail station over the weekend is expected to appear in D.C. Superior court today.

Metro Transit Police arrested James Howard Booker, 18, of Northeast D.C., at his job yesterday for an attack on a 42-year-old Bowie, Md., man Saturday night. Booker is charged with assault with intent to kill.

Police say the victim was at the Deanwood station after 9 p.m. when he was approached by two men who beat him with a broomstick and two by four piece of wood. The attack continued outside of the station, where the victim was found unconscious. He also was robbed.

The victim is hospitalized and is expected to recover. The investigating is continuing.
