Metrobus begins new 9S route from Crystal City to Potomac Yard

Metrobus will begin new 9S service from Crystal City to Potomac Yard in Arlington, VA, on April 24.

The 9S service will operate between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekdays. During the morning and evening peak periods (5:30 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m.), 9S buses will run every six minutes. During midday and evening hours, buses will run every 12 minutes.

The new 9S route leaves from the Crystal City Metrorail station at South Bell and 18th streets and continues in a loop to the new Environmental Protection Agency Building at 27th Street and Crystal Drive and north on Crystal Drive to the Waterpark Towers and Crystal City VRE station.

“The new Metrobus 9S service reflects the commitment Arlington has made to support residents, businesses and the extensive new development in the Crystal City/Potomac Yard corridor. This is the second corridor in Arlington to receive this type of high quality, high frequency, high tech bus service investment from Metro, private developers, and local, state and federal governments. With buses running every six minutes during rush hours, the new service will meet Yellow Line trains entering the Crystal City Metrorail station,” said Metro Board member and Arlington County Board Chairman Christopher Zimmerman.

The fare for the 9S Metrobus is $1.25 or 35¢ with a valid Metrorail transfer and can be paid with cash or SmarTrip®.

The 9S Metrobus will replace the ART Route 90 Crystal City shuttle.
