Metro Weekend Work to Impact Service

Weekend track maintenance on the Red and Blue lines, rail car testing on the Green Line, and canopy installation at the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail station are some of the changes scheduled for this weekend.

Red Line Track Maintenance

Starting Friday, May 19 at 10 p.m., and continuing until midnight, Sunday, May 21, Red Line trains will share one track between the Twinbrook and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations due to switch replacement maintenance outside the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail station. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Red Line should add 20 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Red Line trains typically operate every 12 to 15 minutes between these locations on Saturday and Sunday.]

Red Line - Grosvenor Strathmore Canopy Installation

On Saturday, May 20, the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail station entrance that goes underneath Rockville Pike will be closed while personnel work on the installation of the new escalator canopy. Customers who normally use this entrance must use the main parking facility entrance on the opposite side of Rockville Pike. The station’s Rockville Pike entrance is expected to be open on Sunday, May 21.

Blue Line Track Maintenance

On Sunday, May 21 from 10 p.m. to midnight, Blue Line trains will share one track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant due to track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Blue Line should add up to 10 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Blue Line trains operate every 20 minutes between these locations on Sunday night.]

Green Line Rail Car Tests

On Saturday, May 20, and Sunday, May 21, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Green Line trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and College Park Metrorail stations while Metro tests rail cars. Passengers traveling along this portion of the Green Line should add up to 10 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Green Line trains operate every 12 to 15 minutes between these locations on Saturday and Sunday.]
