Additional Metro Weekend Work to Impact Service

Track maintenance on the Red Line, and rail car testing on the Green Line are some of the other changes scheduled for this weekend in addition to the work scheduled on the Blue Line between Franconia-Springfield and King Street.

Red Line Track Maintenance

On Saturday, July 15, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Red Line trains will share one track between the Fort Totten and Silver Spring Metrorail stations due to track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Red Line should add 15 to 20 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Red Line trains operate every six to eight minutes between these locations on Saturday.]

On Sunday, July 16, from 7 a.m. to midnight, Red Line trains will share one track between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations due to track maintenance. Passengers traveling on this portion of the Red Line should add 10 to 15 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Red Line trains operate every seven to eight minutes between these locations on Sunday.]

Green Line Rail Car Tests

On Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Green Line trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and College Park Metrorail stations while Metro tests rail cars. Passengers traveling along this portion of the Green Line should add up to 10 minutes of travel time for their trip. [Please note that Green Line trains operate every 12 to 15 minutes between these locations on Saturday and Sunday.]
